We are looking for volunteers to join our team to help people living in Cambridgeshire – enabling them to remain independent and maintain social contact with friends and the community.
“One thing I have really appreciated is the ongoing support I’ve been getting from them [Care Network], it’s just great. You can phone, email, text, it’s quite personal and that’s appreciated by me and the other volunteers… They’re there for you if you need them… If you’re not sure, can I deal with this? They’re always there for consultation” - Volunteer
Would you like to volunteer with us?
We are welcoming new volunteers to our team to support our services throughout Cambridgeshire. Care Network’s volunteer roles require a regular, long-term commitment of at least eight months. Some of the skills and qualities we look for in volunteers include:
- Being comfortable with people in social situations, friendly and approachable
- Flexibility to work as part of a team, follow instructions and be able to work independently
- Commitment to Care Network’s policies surrounding confidentiality and equal opportunities
- A desire to help other and give back to your community
Our volunteer program starts with getting in touch to see if we have the right role for you. If you would like to learn more or start the process to become a volunteer, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or at 01954 211919. There are detailed application packs for Trusted Friend volunteers and for our Check and Chat service below. You can also complete and submit a volunteer application here.
Once you have submitted an application, you will be contacted by our Volunteer Manager to have a chat about your interests and skills. If Care Network is a match for you, the next step will be to attend our next induction and training day for new volunteers. During this day of training you will learn helpful information and cover some practical exercises to support you in your new volunteer role. All volunteers must complete an application, references, training and a successful DBS check.
Care Network volunteers are connected with their local coordinators after training and receive on-going support through monthly drop-in support meetings. Reimbursement of volunteer related expenses is offered to all Care Network volunteers.
