Join our Volunteer Team

Whether you have a few hours to spare, want to use your existing skills or are looking for a rewarding new experience, we offer a range of volunteering opportunities across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. Whatever your reason for joining us, you’ll be supported, valued and part of a team that cares.

You don’t need previous volunteering experience to make a difference. We’re looking for friendly, caring and reliable people who want to give some of their time to support others and make a positive difference in communities across Cambridgeshire.

Our volunteers come from all walks of life, with different skills, experiences and reasons for getting involved. What matters most is that you:

  • Are friendly and approachable – comfortable talking to and supporting people from different backgrounds.
  • Are reliable and flexible – happy to work independently when needed and as part of a supportive team.
  • Treat people with respect – committed to confidentiality, safeguarding, equality and treating everyone as an individual.
  • Want to make a difference – with a genuine desire to help others and give something back to your community.

Whatever role you choose, we’ll provide the training, guidance and ongoing support you need to feel confident and valued as part of the Care Network team.

Ready to become a volunteer?

If you’re interested in volunteering with Care Network, we’d love to hear from you. The first step is simply to get in touch so we can learn a little more about you, your interests and the type of volunteering you’d like to do.

You can email us at volunteering@care-network.org.uk, or call 01954 211919 for an informal chat.

What happens next?

Once we receive your application, our Volunteering Coordinator will contact you for a friendly conversation about your interests, experience and the opportunities available. It’s also your chance to ask questions and make sure volunteering with Care Network feels right for you.

If we find a suitable match, you’ll be invited to an induction and training session where we’ll give you the information, guidance and practical training you need to get started confidently in your role.

As part of our commitment to keeping the people we support safe, volunteers are required to complete an application form, provide references, attend relevant training and complete an enhanced DBS check where required for their role.

Once you’re up and running, you won’t be on your own. You’ll have ongoing support and regular contact with your Care Network coordinator, and we’ll reimburse agreed expenses related to your volunteering.

Volunteer stories

“From the moment I stopped at the Care Network Cambridgeshire stall to the time I began my training, the team has been incredibly supportive and friendly. It is such a great organisation to volunteer with. I actually hope to get more involved in the future, perhaps even working alongside the amazing coordinators in a different role. Quite simply, I stay involved because I want to help others. If you want to make a difference, please choose Care Network!”
